About the manifesto

The cloud print manifesto was originally proposed in an article by Sander Nagtegaal, CTO of Peecho. Its purpose is to feed the ongoing discussion about the future of print.

In the article, it is argued that the traditional way of printing - with a priori mass production - will inevitably be replaced by on demand production processes, using digital assets in software applications as source data. However, to allow application developers to fully leverage the possibilities, print will have to become an easily accessible, shared commodity resource. This is called print as a service.

For ecological and efficiency reasons, cloud print will be the technology of choice to power print as a service, eventually supporting sustainability and corporate responsibility in an unprecedented way.
